Day 7: Christmas Sweaters

You may be thinking of the ugly sweater contests that have been becoming more and more popular this year.  That’s not what I’m talking about.  Every Christmas Eve my parents would let us open one present.  The present we would open would be the one from my Aunt who lived in California.  Every year it would be a sweater.  I don’t know why my parents let us open this particular present.  Maybe they were hoping we would change into something nice the next morning before opening presents.  We didn’t.  I have a faint memory of getting pjs one year but I can’t be sure of that. Maybe that’s why the tradition started. Anyway, For the most part these sweaters were really nice and I looked forward to getting one every year. It was a nice little tradition.  Unfortunately we haven’t carried on that tradition with my kids.  No opening presents before Christmas!  Sorry kids.
