Sophia Turned 1

Posted on

A couple of weeks ago Sophia had her first birthday.  It came so quickly and she is growing so fast.  We didn’t do much but had fun anyways.  First we opened presents.  Sophia was more interested in the bags and hangers than the actual gifts but that’s expected from a one year old.  Then we ate cake.  It was nice to do a girly cake for once.  Corey didn’t think she was getting messy enough so he put some frosting on her face.  I don’t think she liked it much so I quickly wiped it off.  Hope you enjoy the pics.sophiapresents12sophiapresents21buterflycake1sophiacake12sophiacake21sophiacake31sophiacake41sophiacake51

Mischievous Sophia

If you ever wonder why you visit a friends home and she is still in her pj’s at noon this is a perfect example of why.  I was getting ready for the day when my 3 year old runs into the bathroom and informs me that my almost one year old is making a mess.  I came out of the bathroom and into the kitchen to find her sitting in the middle of a whole box of sandwhich bags.  She sees me and procedes to hold up the empty box to show me what she has done.  I had to take some pictures to prove that it’s really difficult for any mother with young children to even take a short shower.  What my 3 year old didn’t tell me when he came running into the bathroom was that he was also making a messdownstairs.  He had taken the spray bottle (the one we use for their hair) and completely soaked the TV screen.  How do I keep my eyes on these two?  The second set of pictures is of Sophia finding a not quite so empty box of cereal that her dad left by the garbage to be taken out.  She managed to take the bag out of the box and dump it on the floor and in her lap all within a few minutes of me turning my back (I was making a salad for dinner).  Needless to say I called her dad up to clean the mess up.  He won’t be leaving a box near the garbage anymore. sophiamess01sophiamess02sophiamess03sophiamess04

Car ride to Grants Pass

Posted on

The car ride to and from Grants pass was long.  We got a DVD player for the car for Christmas.  This trip was the test to see if it was worth it.  It was great.  It kept the kids occupied and us sane.  Well worth it.  Also we would stop and make sandwhiches to eat for lunch.  Unfortunately it was most of the time to cold to eat outside so we stayed in the car.  I usually ended up with Sophia on my lap playing with the stearing wheel.  She loved it but what kid doesn’t? levicar1prestoncar1sophiecar1sophiemomcar1

The coast

Okay I’m not the best at taking pictures and uploading for everyone to see.  We went to Grants Pass for spring break and on one of the days we decided to go to the coast.  It was wet and cold but we still enjoyed it.  So here are some pictures from then.  We have a lot more of our whole trip but that is on film and still needs to be developed and then scanned.  This this will have to do for now.levicoastcoastfamilycoastmesophiecoreysophiecoast

Snow?

Posted on

Okay yesterday we woke up to the ground coverd in snow.  Not surprising for this area but a little depressing.  Spring just isn’t coming soon enough.  Still no blossoms on the trees and tulips are just now coming out of the ground.  Well my 3 year old loves the snow. This past Christmas he asked Santa for snow.  It snowed a ton.  So everytime it snows he thinks that he was some how responsible.  Very cute.  Well yesterday he was pretty excited to see the snow on the ground.  By the end of the day it had all melted.  We were sitting at the dinner table just enjoying our meal and he suddenly turns around looks out the window and puts both fist in the air and says “OHHHH my snow is ruined!!”  He then turns around and puts his head on the table like it is the end of the world.  Corey and I just looked at each other and started to laugh.  I wish I had had the camera ready but no luck.  So sometimes snow isn’t all bad.  We just need to look at it through a three year olds eyes.

Sophia’s new thing

Posted on

Sophia has just started this new thing.  She loves to ride on everything.  One in particular is a Levi’s toy dump truck.  She looked so cute we had to take a picture.  The side veiw is probably the better view because you get the sense of how much bigger she is compared to the truck.  When we tried to take her off she wouldn’t let go and started to cry.

My little genius

bus2Preston came up to me today and said “Mom guess what the bus stops in front of our house now”  I asked “well how did you manage that?”  One day this week he went outside to walk the 2 blocks to the bus stop just as the bus was driving past our house and the bus driver stopped the bus for him and asked if he wanted to get on.  The next day he watched the clock and timed himself to leave at the same time so that he would get out there when the bus drove by.  She stopped again and let him on.  The bus driver told him that he could get on there from now on.  So now there is a bus stop right in front of my house in the mornings and Preston doesn’t have to walk in the freezing cold for 2 blocks and stand and wait for 10 minutes for the bus.  It amazes me what he comes up with.

Levi and Yoga

Posted on

I’ve started doing Yoga with a couple of friends a few weeks ago.  On the weekends I usually try new videos on my own.  I usually wait until the kids are in bed but this particular night I started early.  Levi decided he was going to be my yoga buddy.  He was copying everything I was doing and would ask if he was doing it right.  It was so cute.  He stood so close to me that he was stepping on my toes most of the time.  This is a picture of him doing downward facing dog.  Corey took a video with our camera but it had a little of me in it and nobody wants to see that.

Indoor Picnic

indoor-picnic

We decided to have an indoor picnic the other day.  It’s one of the boys favorite things to do.  As long as the kids have an enclosed cup I’m all for it.  We use paper plates and normally have sandwhiches and chips and stuff like that. That makes easy clean up.  The kids can’t wait until we can finally go have picnics outside.  Cross your fingers that it’s only going to be a couple more months.

Utah

This past week we went to Utah for a couple of days.  Corey had a meeting in Ogden so we all decided to go.  It was nice to finally leave Idaho Falls for a while.  This is the first time I’ve been out of town since July.  I know it’s sad.  This first picture was taken at the Weber state natural history exhibt.  The boys just loved the big dinosaur bones.  It was really hard to keep Levi from touching anything.Dinosaur

We had to wait for Corey for quite a while so the boys decide that they would pass the time by catching up on the news.  It was so funny.  They just found a newspaper sitting on some chairs and opened them up and started to look through them.  They looked so grown up.Newspaper

When we finally caught up to Corey we parked our car and rode the train (front runner) to Salt Lake.  Levi and Preston were so excited to take their first ride on a train.  It was about an hour long train ride and well worth it.  Levi’s nose was glued to the window the whole time.  They had a blast.

outside-trainOn trainWhen we arrived in Salt Lake City we rode the Trax to the planetarium.  We took a trip to the moon and to Mars. The kids loved seeing all the different

exhibits.  Preston still thinks that he is going to grow up to be an astronaut. So we try to do all we can to encourage it.  Levi’s favorite part was going up and down in the elevator.

Next we headed for temple square.  It was a beautiful day and about 50 degrees outside (warm for us).  We walked around temple square for a while and started to get tired.  It had been a long day and when we got back to the train Levi fell asleep.  It was so cute he was all curled up in ball.  Over all it was a quick trip but well worth it.  We all had a great time and can’t wait for our next adventure.temple
