Huckleberries<\/p><\/div>\n

Yummy, yummy it’s huckleberry time.\u00a0 I don’t grow this in my garden but these tiny berries grow wild in the mountains not too far from our home.\u00a0 Growing up we used to have a cabin at Warm Lake Idaho. Warm Lake is about 30 miles from Cascade Idaho.\u00a0 We would spend much of our summers up there and when it was huckleberry season my mom would load us up in the van and we would spend a couple hours at our favorite huckleberry picking spot and pick.\u00a0 Then we would\u00a0 be rewarded the next morning with huckleberry pancakes.<\/p>\n

We have lived in this area for seven years now and have known that there are huckleberries here but they have eluded us.\u00a0 If you ask anyone where to pick they never give you a straight answer.\u00a0 If they have a spot it’s a well guarded secret.\u00a0 This year we happened upon a nice spot by accident.\u00a0 Corey was camping with Levi in Kelly Canyon, that is as close as you will get to the location, and they went for a hike.\u00a0 While on their hike they noticed the huckleberry patch and started picking.\u00a0 When they came home we had enough for a batch of huckleberry pancakes.\u00a0 Of course, I made Corey take me to the huckleberry patch and we picked a couple of quarts of them.\u00a0 I froze them and now we can have huckleberry pancakes for a while.\u00a0 I might even try some huckleberry muffins.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
