{"id":1813,"date":"2013-12-20T08:00:58","date_gmt":"2013-12-20T15:00:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/karin.zmonkey.org\/?p=1813"},"modified":"2013-12-12T15:35:41","modified_gmt":"2013-12-12T22:35:41","slug":"12-days-of-christmas-memories-7","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/karin.zmonkey.org\/?p=1813","title":{"rendered":"12 Days of Christmas Memories"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1><span style=\"color: #993366;\">Day 8: Christmas Dinner<\/span><\/h1>\n<p>Growing up Christmas dinner was at Grandma Eve&#8217;s house.\u00a0 She always went to great effort to give us a delicious feast.\u00a0 We usually saw our Aunts and cousins whom we didn&#8217;t see that often.\u00a0 My mom was always in charge of bringing an apple pie.\u00a0 The kids would sit at the kid table which was usually in a different room than the adults.\u00a0 We would put olives on our fingers and really have a good time.\u00a0 The best part of the meal, in my opinion, was grandma&#8217;s rolls.\u00a0 When we moved to Grants Pass we went back to grandma&#8217;s the first year and almost slid into a mountain.\u00a0 This was the last of that family tradition.\u00a0 My mom still made grandma&#8217;s rolls and we would have a big spread but it wasn&#8217;t the same without grandma, aunts and cousins.\u00a0 The tradition changed into more of a Thanksgiving holiday tradition.\u00a0 My grandma can no longer make the meals for us.\u00a0 We are so far now from family that around this time I really do miss those moments at grandma&#8217;s.\u00a0 Just not the same with my small family.
